Mission & History

To Transform Lives and Strengthen Communities Through Workforce Training & Apprenticeships for Youth, Adults, Veterans and the Economically Disadvantaged.

AmSkills was formed by Pinellas, Pasco, & Hernando Counties through an interlocal agreement as an Independent County Special District in Nov. 2014 as an economic development and workforce training initiative for the manufacturing industry. The original name was ICTC Governing Board dba AmSkills and we are in the sixth year of operations. In 2017, a 501c3 was established as AmSkills, Inc. In 2020 the interlocal agreement was terminated and all assets, liabilities and operational functions were transferred to AmSkills, Inc. under the oversight of a new 9-member Board of Directors. Our Mission is to Transform Lives & Build Communities through workforce training and apprenticeships. This is accomplished through programs that focus on RECRUIT, TRAIN, and SUSTAIN, with high school programs, bootcamps, training classes, pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships. AmSkills primary focus has been the Manufacturing industry, however it is planned to expand this to the Construction industry.
