Not sure what career path you want to take?  Prefer "hands-on learning" instead of bookwork?  Then the AmSkills Youth Pre-Apprenticeship Program may be for you.  The AmSkills Youth Pre-Apprenticeship Program is designed for Juniors & Seniors in High School (or Home School, or working on GED) to help them determine which career is the best fit for them. AmSkills training centers are designed to replicate real-world environment including time clock tracking, hands-on skills training and job preparation. Upon successful completion, Apprentice Candidates may be provided opportunities for paid Semi-Skilled or Skilled Apprenticeship jobs.

What types of skills will my student learn?

The ciriculum consists of a variety of mechanical and technical disciplines with, as well as hands-on instruction in real-world production environments. Classes include instruction in drilling, hydraulics, milling, safety awareness, manufacturing processes, mechatronics, blueprint reading, workplace life skills and more. Not only does the pre-apprentice program provide valuable training in manufacturing skills, but also in life and career preparation, including teamwork, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills.

Programs of Study

Juniors participate in general studies before selecting a career path their senior year. The available tracks include:

  • Mechatronics Technician
  • Industrial Mechanic
  • CNC Machinist
