Skills Training Track allows the student to pick a skill set of their interest. We offer Machining, Industrial Maintenance, Electronics or Mechatronics. Machining is every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Mechatronics which includes Industrial Maintenance & Electronics is held every other Saturday from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm.
The Machining Track is a competency-project based program that allows students to complete modules based on their level of skill proficiency and hands on projects. AmSkills uses The National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) for machining classes. There are several benefits to this program such as an easy-to-follow curriculum, standardized testing, and opportunities that can result in nationally recognized certifications. NIMS offers certifications which include Machinist, CNC Machinist, Tool & Die maker and Mold Maker.
The Mechatronics Track is a competency-project based program that follows PMMI certifications. PMMI Mechatronics Certification Tests are based on industry-developed standards and recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor. They are also recognized by the Manufacturing Institute's Skills Certification System, which is endorsed by the National Association of Manufacturing.
Each student must meet the following requirements:
- Be 18 years of age or over, have a high school diploma or GED (copy required).
- Take the TABE/CASA test with a passing if Financial aid is needed.
